Mekapati Goutham Reddy passed due to heart attack in Hyderabad
Minister of Industries and IT of AP died of a heart attack
Mekapati Goutham Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh government’s information and technology and industries minister, died on Monday after suffering a heart attack. Goutham Reddy was the son of Mekapati Rajamohana Reddy, a former YSRCP MP.
On Sunday, the 50-year-old minister returned to Hyderabad after a visit to encourage investment for the state.
Mekapati Reddy was taken to Apollo Hospitals in the early hours of Monday after collapsing at his house. Despite the greatest efforts of specialists, he could not be revived and was pronounced dead at 9.16 a.m.
Today morning Mr. Gautam Reddy 50/M was brought to Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills in an emergency. He had collapsed suddenly at home. He arrived into our ER at 07:45am and was unresponsive, not breathing and in cardiac arrest on arrival,” the hospital stated.
“He was unresponsive, not breathing and in cardiac arrest on arrival. He received immediate CPR and advanced cardiac life support in our emergency department. CPR was done for more than 90 minutes. Despite our best efforts he could not be revived,” the statement further said.
According to hospital authorities, Goutham Reddy’s mortal remains would be transferred to his home soon.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his shock and grief, saying he had known the minister since he was a young promising leader. While speaking about the death of his young cabinet colleague, he was at a loss for words. The Chief Minister offered the deceased family members his deepest condolences.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would visit Hyderabad in the near future to offer his respects.
Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu praised Goutham Reddy as a soft-spoken man who was dedicated to his mission, adding that he had known Reddy’s family since the time of the late minister’s grandfather.
N Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party, was also shocked by the minister’s death. “Goutham’s demise left me in deep shock. He earned special recognition as a soft-spoken and decent minister. It is immensely sad that a leader with a promising future departed so early,” Naidu stated.
Reddy completed his post-graduate studies in the United Kingdom before returning to India. He was initially elected as a member of the Atmakur Legislative Assembly in 2014, and then again in 2019. After the YSR Congress took power in Andhra Pradesh in 2019, he became a minister in the government of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
